The Nightmares of a Nation, Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis

This workshop will explore the “social dream” as we as a country struggle with the dual traumas of the COVID19 pandemic and the systemic racism that the Black lives movement is seeking to address. We will revisit the theory of dream formation using The Third Reich of Dreams: The Nightmares of a Nation by Charolotte Beradt (1966) to deepen our understanding of how our social and political lives impact our unconscious and how dreams reveal this. We will explore historical antecedents of our current political situation with a focus on clinical implications.
